"Before the shake, i felt a terrible noise (i insist on the verb feel and not hear). It sounded like a monster's scream. I had the feeling that the ground was shaking on a horizontal way and vertical way and for a long time (more than 10 seconds). I had difficulty to stay standing on my feet. We were lucky not to be inside our bungalow when it happened, but when we came back to get our passeport, the bathroom (which was made out of concrete) was completely destroyed. The walls were flat. However, the rest of the bungalow structure which was made out of bamboo was still standing. We slept outside, on an improvised camp made of blankets and thin mattress. We felt each and every aftershocks all night. "
