My house is built on natural rock leading to the sea and port on the slope of Marjan hill. Can feel vibrations of ferry propeller at times...this quake was sharp sound like it was a stone block hitting the floor, slide and hit, five, six seconds long. Followed by 7-8 sec intense shaking

I was sitting in the living room when this event occured. It felt like there were several nearby detonations. I headed to the kitchen where my mother was standing. We immediately ran outside where we heard our neigbours shouting with fear. My mother, who is in her 50s, told me that she never felt an eartquake like this. She said that this earthquake remainds her of the days of Homeland War when Serbs attacked civil buildings in  Split,Croatia with heavy navy machinery. We still haven't calm down althought this was 6 hours ago. Terrifing experience.
