This quake woke me up from a dead sleep. My entire basement was just rocking...felt like someone was shaking my bed so I initially thought it was one of my kids trying to wake me up. Then came the aftershock. I definitely heard that one coming....I could hear it rumble a ways away.

Just after midnight I was woken up by this earthquake, and sat up in my bed. It was powerful, and moved everything on the walls and in my house. No damage was done. Exactly 7 minutes later the aftershock struck and was smaller and less powerful.

I thought a tornado was ripping our house from its foundation based on the crumbling and shaking noises I heard, but since I couldn't hear strong wind I realized it was an earthquake. It was very loud and rumbly, and caused all the hanging objects in our house to shake and make noise.

Woke me from sleep. Bed was shaking. Few minutes later a second one not as strong. My 2nd earthquake. 1st one in Ohio 30+ years ago. I didn't feel the 1st one in Ohio, but my young son at the time was in the second floor and told me his sheets were shaking!
This one tonight was quite frightening.  Possibility of more happening? I'd like to sleep if I can!

 At first I thought the furnace had blown up. When the house seem to be intact and there was no fire, I thought there was a major gust of wind like the walls of windows I had experience in a rack that would blowing off the desert. Was lying on the couch half asleep when the building began shaking violently. Sort of felt like a car had hit the building at first, but the shaking and creaking lasted for about 15 to 20 seconds. No noise was heard before or after either the quake or the initial aftershock which came a matter of minutes later. We are continuing to feel very slight shocks as of 1:21 am.

Felt similar to an out of balance washing machine.  A friend near the epicenter reported hearing trees fall and items knocked off walls and shelves. Apparently, the wildlife near the epicenter were also bothered.  A 400 lb grizzly bear was seen wandering near homes at the epicenter.

I live on top of the hill. Dog would not come in for the previous thunder storm hours before ( very unusal) and the relusive stray cat came out and sat in the road. ( Before) The day before all the spiders were coming out of the cracks. Thought it highly unusal.
Had a feeling of dread before it hit. 
Had a few bolts of bright lightling.
It started as a rumble that wouldn't stop. Got stronger. The strong continued feeling as if the floor was on a flat bed sliding or at sea.
I looked up the walls seemed to be moving out of square. 

Jumped up stood in hall with three door frames. 

The after shock seem to be coming 20 mintes after the reported times for Linclon but not sure.

Before the biggest after shock . The reclusivecat was back in the middle of the road not scared  to have me walk by..
I had been putting a little water and food and a sleeping bag in the car.

That after shock seemed as  strong  as the big 5.8 in some way but then stopped quickly.
